Yes, and yes (mostly). Because it was new silk, she had to fuss over the pleats a little more than if it was more broken in, but getting the pleats right is a big deal. The pleats were safety-pinned at the top, so they can't come completely undone, but they got a little messed up when I was climbing in and out of the taxis.
Do the pleats really have to be that perfect? And did they stay like that?
